Streets & Stormwater Management
There are over 200 lane miles of paved roads and 8 miles of unpaved roads within the City limits – all that need to be inspected and maintained. The Streets division also grades unpaved roads, repairs pot holes, installs signs, paints stop bars, paints crosswalks, and cleans drains before and after rain events and major storms.
The Stormwater Division has a certified, technical staff and fleets of heavy equipment to provide a safe environment to live, work, and play. Various daily tasks are performed to maintain proper drainage and prevent pollutants from reaching inlets and storm drains that lead into coastal water ways. The Stormwater Division also maintains structural controls as required by NPDES permit. Inspections and record-keeping of scheduled maintenance activities are kept on all structural controls owned by the City of Lake Worth.
Grounds & Cemetery Maintenance
Landscape design and maintenance, safe and attractive parks, athletic fields, right-of-way beautification all enhance the aesthetic appearance of Lake Worth and provide residents and visitors areas for outdoor activities. Due to numerous inter-local agreements, the Grounds Maintenance Division is also tasked with the maintenance of medians and right of ways, both inside and outside of the city limits. The team also provides preparation assistance, clean up, and custodial services for all City sponsored/co-sponsored special events.
The Facilities Services Division provides preventative maintenance, repairs, renovations, and oversight of outside contractual services for City owned buildings and related facilities. This Division strives to provide ADA Standard facilities in all City owned properties.
The Facilities Division also provides staging assistance with community and neighborhood association events throughout the year such as holiday parades, festivals, sporting events, and official City ceremonies sponsored/co-sponsored by local agencies in our downtown area, beach, and parks.
The City Fleet (Garage) Division is responsible for fuel management and maintenance and repairs of all City owned vehicles and equipment. The Garage/Fleet Division continues to handle in-house repairs as feasible based on the type of equipment and in accordance with current allocated budget.
